Watching yoga videos as a yoga beginner may be a bit intimidating, but remember, yoga is not about success or failure. Yoga is about physically challenging yourself to achieve personal goals according to your own fitness level, health and lifestyle. Yoga revolves around connecting with your inner self, and you do not have to be flawlessly flexible to do that!
Yoga for beginners involves four basic steps that you should concentrate on mastering first. These include the child’s pose, triangle pose, prayer pose and downward dog. Before beginning yoga, make sure that you are wearing clothes that are comfortable and appropriate for the yoga positions that you are practicing. Yoga instructions should be practiced in a quiet place, so make sure that your chosen location has minimal distractions.
Yoga instructions should be practiced on an empty stomach. Wait for at least three hours before beginning your yoga session, if you have had food. Wait for half an hour after your yoga session before consuming food. Yoga instructions are most effective when performed in the morning. This is because, in the morning, the mind is calm and stress-free.
When you begin practicing as a yoga beginner, allow your body to adapt to the various yoga positions. Pause for 10 seconds after each yoga posture (asana) so that your mind and body is prepared for the next asana. Allow your body to flow slowly and smoothly from one position to the next, and focus on your breathing.
