Grains
Highly refined and processed grains, such as those used in white bread, do not contain the dietary fiber that is highly beneficial for health, as do their counter parts. Foods that are consistent of insoluble fiber, such as fruits, vegetables and whole wheat breads are good for health as they keep the weight off and help with the digestive system. Furthermore, a diet that is high in soluble fiber, such as oatmeal and lima beans, help in maintain cholesterol levels in the blood, preventing the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. An unhealthy diet that is not consistent of these essential fibers has the effect of raising cholesterol levels, and causing obesity which in turn may lead to cardiovascular diseases.
