Items You Don’t Need to Buy Organic

When it comes to food items, a list of 12 foods called the ‘dirty dozen’ has been drawn up which is safer to consume in an organic form, given the pesticide residue intact in them and other factors that go against their consumption in a  conventional form. Similarly, a list of 15 food items exists, that are safe even if not bought organically. This is because these foods, labeled the ‘clean 15’, have the lowest pesticide load, and hence, are least affected by pesticide contamination, making them safe, healthy and ready for use!

The Clean 15

The following 15 items are considered least likely to be contaminated by pesticide residue. Rest assured, it is safe to buy conventional produce of these items.

  1. Onions
  2. Sweet corn
  3. Pineapples
  4. Avocado
  5. Cabbage
  6. Sweet peas
  7. Asparagus
  8. Mangoes
  9. Eggplant
  10. Kiwi
  11. Cantaloupe (domestic)
  12. Sweet potatoes
  13. Grapefruit
  14. Watermelon
  15. Mushrooms

Other Items You Don’t Need To Buy Organic

Listed above were the 15 food items, drawn up by credible environmentalists, which are stated to be safe for consumptions even if not bought with an organic label or status. However, there exist some items which are not so commonly spoken off when it comes to buying safe un-organic items. Here are some of those items not included in the ‘clean 15’ which you can consume in a more affordable conventional fashion, safely!

Spices

Spices such as cinnamon do not have to be organic as a must if you are to consume healthy foods. The fact only very little an amount is used whenever it is used in a dish of spice like cinnamon, it really doesn’t matter whether it is organic or not!

Eggs

Scientists have compared and contrasted the health status of organic and conventional eggs, and reached the conclusion that the differences are negligible. Furthermore, it is also very much safe and health inclined t use conventional eggs as chickens are not fed growth hormones, so you are safe either way!
