About Olive Oil – A Gift Of The Gods

Olive oil is a natural oil derived from the fruit ‘olive’ that grows on trees. The olive is a tiny, drupe fruit with a thin flesh. The oil is obtained by grinding or squeezing whole olives. Today, this is done on a large scale where the oil is now extracted by large industrial machinery. However, in ancient times, olive oil was extracted by stepping on the olives or crushing them by stones. There is a large demand for olive oil even now as it is used in cooking, for cosmetics, medicines and even fuel!

There are different types of olive oil and Extra Virgin olive oil is one of them. Extra Virgin Olive oil has a richer color and taste. This oil is derived from the first pressing of the olive oil which accounts for its quality and price.
