Does Acai Berry Work?
The question of whether the acai berry works can only be answered by first understanding what the acai berry is.
What Is The Acai Berry?
Acai Berry, one of the many berries that nature has to offer, has been known for many of its weight loss benefits. Commonly found growing in abundance in the rain forests of the Amazon, it is a fruit that has been known for its antioxidant qualities. Centuries ago, it was used both raw and distilled to build immunity and boost energy. Recently though, certain qualities have become more popularly known. It has been discovered that its qualities will also help the berry act as an antivirus and antibacterial agent. Some other health benefits, perhaps, of a more serious nature as well include lowering cholesterol levels in the blood stream and deterring blood clots, thereby easing and improving blood circulation.
Does The Acai Berry Diet Work?
The acai berry is popular for its ‘acai berry diet’, acai berry pills and formulas – all of which promise to lose weight. However, is there any truth to these claims?
One of the reasons acai berry is a much-sought after fruit is because of its apparent ability to help one lose weight. While many nutritionists argue that it does aid in weight loss, and consequently, enable the maintenance of healthy weight, others believe that the berry alone cannot do much for someone trying to lose weight. Some nutritionists have said that eating fatty foods such as anything that is deep fried is not easy to be rid of and acai berry alone will not be very helpful. They insist that acai berry diets and detox pills so easily available in all the markets make promises that are more often than not, untrue. Exercise and a healthy diet are a must!
Health Benefits Of Acai Berry
Yet another benefit of the acai berry fruit, especially in these climactic conditions when everyone is prone to some illness is that it may prove to be a deterrent to cancer. The fruit is high Vitamin C and an acid known as Ellagic, and it is believed that because they boost the immune system the growth of cancer is controlled. Next since acai berries are anti-inflammatory they may prevent the common inflammation that is often related to allergic reactions.
There are some acai berry pills that say they slow process the aging. The fact of the matter is that because these berries contain antioxidant properties especially those that control inflammation as said above they may help contribute to either a slowing down or strangely enough, a reversal of ageing. This is not to say that the berry will interfere with the normal process of ageing but that anything that is related to “inflammation and cellular oxidative damage” might be managed more effectively.
Besides also being rich in dietary fiber, the acai berry is a much more powerful antioxidant than grapes and blueberries. Many nutritionists believe that if they were available in their raw form, tasting of berries and chocolates, they would prove much more desirable and healthy (not just to adults but to children as well) than their capsule versions. Their yummy sweetness and beautiful purple color beckons children and it is a pity that it doesn’t transport easily and therefore, isn’t available easily. For adults, especially 40 and above, the berry's anthocyanin properties, protect the body from diabetes and neurological illnesses, enabling one to remain alert longer. For women approaching menopause or having approached it, the berry helps ensure mental equilibrium
Should I Consume Acai Berry?
Four ounces of pure, undistilled acai contains about 100 calories, iron, calcium, fiber, vitamin A, and six grams of fat. Considering its health benefits, it is definitely a fruit that is a must-have.
