Zero Calorie Food Diet

Zero Calorie Food Diet

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tells us that a food is zero calorie foods if it less than five calories per serving. A low-calorie food may offer 40 calories or fewer per serving. Most zero calorie foods or calorie free foods are beverages, broths or sugar-free dessert items, such as gelatin, sugar-free hard candy, or condiments. The number of food items that are zero calorie foods is very limited.
Since there are very limited zero calorie foods, one’s diet is also then restricted to these handful of foods. A few are listed below:

Cucumbers:

Cucumbers are rich in vitamins K and C, potassium, and a compound called silica. This helps in building and maintaining the connective tissue, like muscle, tendons, ligaments, and bone.

Citrus Fruit:

People with higher levels of vitamin C have lower waist-to-hip ratios than those whose bodies contain less of the antioxidant.

Celery:

Celery contains compounds called phthalides, which can relax muscle tissue in artery walls and increase blood flow. This helps in lowering the blood pressure.

Apples:

It is said that “An apple a day keeps your weight at bay!” Just make sure to eat the skin. The peel of this fruit contains metabolism-boosting fiber, as well as ursolic acid, a compound that may prevent the weight from increasing.

Kelp:

Kelp is a sea vegetable which is rich in vitamin K. It helps keep bones strong, along with a natural fiber called alginate, which may help block fat absorption.

Asparagus:

A half-cup of cooked asparagus will set you back only 20 calories. Since this vegetable is rich in vitamins K and A, and B vitamins such as folic acid, you will not face any deficiency. Since B vitamins play a role in breaking down sugars and starches, eating asparagus may help regulate blood sugar and fend off type 2 diabetes.

Apricots:

By eating three or more daily servings of apricots, which is rich in vitamins A, C, and E and carotenoids like beta-carotene may lower your risk of macular degeneration, the major cause of age-related vision loss.

Watermelon:

Watermelon is a summertime fruit which is filled with arginine. Arginine is an amino acid that may help in weight loss.
