Despite undergoing such a harsh disease and an even harsher treatment that follows, these mighty individuals managed to jump out of the tribulation and back into the limelight, being the motivation many hopeless cancer patients are much in need of. Surviving cancer is a hard and traumatic journey, but you need to have faith.
Among the many inspiring celebrities who beat the odds of cancer, Lance Armstrong stands tall. Back in 1996 when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, he was given a mere 2 percent chance of survival. Not only did he fight the retched disease with all the strength he could muster, he also won the Tour de France over and over again.
Lance Armstrong proved, not only is it possible to live with the disease but also to live and survive and do well with the aftermath of the disease.
Ozzy Osbourne’s wife and the star of the show The Osbournes on MTV, Sharon Osbourne was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002. Given a 33 percent chance of survival and the disease spread up till her lymph nodes, the courageous star was an example of a strong celebrity who survived cancer.
After going through the traumatic experience of surviving cancer, in 2oo4 Sharon Osbourne founded the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program which continues to help innumerable colon cancer patients to date.
While Robert Deniro chose to keep the details of his disease and his treatment private, it is known to all that in 2003 he got the unsettling news of being diagnosed with prostate cancer after what was to be a mere annual regular check up. The acclaimed actor substantiates his recovery with its early detection and the fact that he was in generally good health. However, his ferocious kill for the disease was the driving force that made him survive the antagonizing disease of cancer.

Now, Kylie Minogue with all her vivaciousness intact is back with a bang, taking the broadway theatre world and the media by a storm, still inspiring hope and faith many down trodden women.
Christina Applegate had risen to fame ever since her role as Kelly Bundy in the hit series ‘Married…. with Children’. Since then, Applegate had stared in a series of movies with lead roles including ‘The Sweetest Thing’,’ Anchorman’ and ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel’ In 2008, it was reported that Christina had been diagnosed with breast cancer in one breast. Thankfully, it was diagnosed at an early stage through an MRI. Applegate’s mother is a two-time breast cancer survivor and it was announced that Christina had inherited a BRCA1mutation, which gave her a higher risk of breast cancer.
Although the cancer was only in one breast, Christina opted for a double mastectomy in order to minimize the risk of the cancer recurring and spreading.
Christina is now leading a healthy life and gave birth to a daughter on January 27, 2011.
