Kripalu Yoga - an approach towards Better Health
The dusk news endows with constant reminder of world, state and community problems, then we add our own-relationships, work, money. No wonder it's hard to find internal peace these days and this steady reminders put stress and anxiety at higher level.
We need to learn to handle stress before it creates illness. One astounding and pell-mell way is through the ancient system of self-improvement called hatha yoga. Kripalu yoga is a form of Hatha yoga and it is one of the most well-liked types of yoga.
What Is Kripalu Yoga?
Kripalu means compassion. In Kripalu yoga no one directs us to a trail. We are empowered to self-initiate inner experiences through proper alignment in postures (asanas), awareness and control of breath (pranayama), and meditation, which function as stepping-stones to life’s journeys.
Kripalu Yoga is basically an interplay of body, mind and energy. A great way to exercise gently and learn self acceptance, Kripalu yoga does not only help a person become physically and mentally healthy, it also teaches him to love his body and accept it as it is.
“The goal of traditional yoga is to bring a practitioner to the highest spiritual state called self-realization. The goal of Kripalu yoga is to develop a healthy and strong body, an open and caring heart, and a peaceful and clear mind. Kripalu Yoga recognizes that we are born divine and are inherently capable of accessing our spiritual nature.” (From the Kripalu Yoga Teacher Training Manual)
Founder Of Kripalu Yoga:
Yogi Amrit Desai, who was born in the small village of Halol in India, innovated Kripalu Yoga. Desai, who is generally referred to as Gururdev, was inspired by the life and teachings of his guru, Swami Kripalvananda. Amrit Desai felt it necessary to initiate the Kripalu Yoga School in Pennsylvania, USA. He got incredible success in preaching people about the objective of his Kripalu Yoga doctrines.
Practice
Kripalu Yoga puts an immense emphasis on the mechanics of Yoga - proper breath and alignment - as well as in the inner, pious dimensions of Yogic practice and it is also a tool for self-empowerment and personal growth.
Body And Breath Attentiveness:
In the practice of Kripalu yoga, our physical body is used to get in touch with our spirit, our inner self and this can have deep effects on the mind and the body. Focusing the mind on the flow of breath and the details of alignment develops concentration and prepares the practitioner for deeper practice
Holding The Posture:
This guides you to focus your attention on inner sensations, thoughts and emotions as you learn to hold postures for longer periods of time while taming an ability to witness all that arises.
Meditation-In-Motion:
This is a unique and personal aspect of Kripalu Yoga. As practice deepens, prana awakens more deeply, energy flows freely, the body moves impulsively, and the ability of the mind to witness its activity increases.
