Importance Of Fitness Amongst Teens
The amount of physical activities that teens engage into have gone down over the years, this leads to a slower metabolic processes. This slowing down is the main cause of obesity, when teens are not involved in physical activities they can rapidly gain weight. Being overweight especially at an early age can be very harmful it can cause diseases like cardio diseases; it also increases the likelihood of diabetes and arthritis. Hence it is very important to engage in physical activities, if your body is fit then the body will also be able to function smoothly. Working out and staying fit gives you strength, it also makes your body more flexible. People who are physically fit and are involved in physical activities are more likely to be mentally healthy.
Workouts for Teens
The easiest way to remain fit besides getting involved in sports, is working out on a regular basis. We have discussed some exercises that you can carry out.
Jumping Jacks
This exercise may seem very easy; however, it is extremely effective and is very good way to warm up. Additionally, jumping jacks is a great way to relax the muscles. Hence, every day before starting your workout routines do 30 to 50 for a nice warm up and then progress on to your main working out.
Running
Running is another great exercise that teens should get involved in, running for 20-30 minutes would help you to loosen up your muscles, lose fat and also feel good. Run around the track at school or you could run on a treadmill. Challenge yourself to do more; running is ranked amongst the most effective exercises for those who wish to burn that extra fat.
Push-ups
Push-ups may seem difficult at first, but eventually they get easier. Set a number of push-ups you can do in each set, do at least 2 to 3 sets per day. Make sure to breathe out loudly every time you push yourself upwards. Take 2 minute breaks in between after you are done with every set.
Pull-ups
Pull-ups can help you get those big biceps and triceps, and the results will also be long lasting. The hands should be placed on the bar at shoulder’s length and make sure you pull yourself up to you chin. Set a number of pull-ups you can do in a set, do at least 3 sets per day.
Healthy Diet for Teenagers
Calories
Teenagers require calories - usually this very biological need for calories drives teenagers towards eating junk food. Hence it’s important to give these kids food that is rich in calories such as nuts or dried food. This would keep their stomach full and they would avoid eating snacks that are not good for the health. A glass of milk is always a better option as compare to a packet of chips.
Minerals
Minerals are needed by individuals of all ages and teenagers are certainly no exception! Moreover, there are certain minerals that are of utmost importance to the health of teenagers. Calcium helps to build stronger teeth and bones, Iron is also important to give energy. Food items such as vegetables, dried fruits, eggs, whole meal bread and red meat should be consumed so that the teenager can get the nutrients the body requires.
Proteins
Protein is particularly necessary for teenagers as they help in growing taller, stronger and developing muscles. Hence, it is always advised to consume food that is rich in proteins such as dairy products, nuts, beans, legumes, eggs and fish.
Fats
Even though junk food also contains fat, those are unhealthy, saturated fats. Hence, it is important to consume good fat that helps the body to stay healthy. Food items that contain fat include vegetables, olives and fish.
