What is Back Pain?
Back pain is one of the world’s most frequent and common sources of pain.
Back pain is also known as ‘Dorsalgia’ and is a pain that occurs in the back and is typically characterized by a deep piercing, or burning sensation. Back pain is typically triggered by the issues in the muscles, spine, joints, bones and nerves.
Since back pain in such a common problem, we must learn how to treat back pain so that it doesn’t interfere with our daily activites!

Back Pain Treatment # 1 - Get Some Rest!
Yes – this may sound very simplistic, but it’s oh-so-true! The best way to relieve back pain is to rest! We get so caught up with our everyday activities that we often forget that resting is the best healing power! Lying straight on your back or stomach, with your legs straight is not at all good for your back. It is a huge misconception and is advised to avoid sleeping in such positions. What you should do is lie comfortably in a well supported bed! Interestingly it has been found that lying on your side, with your knees bent is the best position for your back! Lying on your back with pillows underneath your knees is another good way to rest.
Back Pain Treatment # 2 – Workout!
Exercising is another great way to rid yourself of back pain! Exercise helps in preventing our muscles from becoming stiff and weak and therefore prevents back pain triggered by these factors! This is only for light back pain. However if your back pain is severe, do not to exercise until you have consulted a doctor!
Back Pain Treatment # 3 – Massages
Getting frequent massages helps keep back pain at ease as it improves muscle tone, helps the muscles relax and increases the blood flow to your muscles!
Back Pain Treatment # 4 – Apply Ice Or Heat!
In order to relieve pain, many people resort to using ice or icetechniques. This involves using ice packs that are wrapped in towels every two hours for maximum two days! For the heat technique, many soak themselves in hot water; this can be in your tub at home or a Jacuzzi, taking hot showers, hot water bottles, or hot towels! Many find the heat technique to be more efficient in terms of relieving back pains than ice!
Back Pain Treatment # 5 – Medication!
Medication, such as pain relievers or pain killers is extremely efficient – every now and then! However, the problem is that most people begin to rely on these too much, and consume them regularly! This can be very unhealthy and may cause stomach problems and irritation! It is always advised to follow the doctor’s prescription strictly!
Back Pain Treatment # 6 – Manage Your Stress And Tensions
The stress and tensions in our life act as a trigger towards back pain. Therefore it is important to learn how to manage stress. Meditation, muscular relaxation, exhalation breathing, exercising, Zumba and Yoga are all methods that help reduce stress and tension levels! If you do not currently have the time for this, you can play relaxing music in the background while resting or before going to bed at night!
Back Pain Treatment # 7 – Recreational Activities!
Keep yourself active! Enroll yourself in sports such as swimming, playing tennis, golf or even bowling! As these activities keep you tone and fit!
However it is best not to take up such activities if you already experiencing symptoms of back pains and are beginning for the first time!
