When it comes to body sculpting, the Zumba® Toning program becomes an obvious choice. It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba® moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness party.

A Zumba® toning class will incorporate squats, lunges, overhead presses, bicep curls, and lateral raises, for example.  Because the weights are so light you can still do your regular Zumba® salsa, cumbia, merengue, samba and other dance rhythms while getting a better calorie-burning and muscle toning workout.

Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones including:

  • Arms
  • Abs
  • Glutes
  • Thighs

Zumba® Toning Sticks

When we think about making muscles with dance exercise maraca will come into eyes. But because some heavy weight of maraca it’s really difficult to move your hands and body on music with maraca. So Zumba® makes some additional light weight toning sticks which is called Zumba® toning sticks. Zumba® toning sticks has near about 2.5 lb.

The Zumba® toning class is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.

Additional Benefits

This type of class will not give you the aerobic workout you know and expect from regular Zumba® classes, but instead works on circuit training (a few minutes of cardio followed by a few minutes of strength training) which creates a higher calorie burn than strength training alone, offers some cardiovascular exercise and because it is still Zumba® – it’s FUN!

What makes Zumba® Toning different?

The addition of toning sticks distinguish between a regular Zumba® class and a Zumba® toning class as well as the emphasis and focus on strength training exercises within the dances.

Recommended for Females and Older Adults

To gain a pound of muscle takes an incredible amount of work and heavy weight training.  In a nutshell, the weight amounts used in a Zumba® Toning class are much too low to create muscle mass.

The reason why it’s recommended for women are its additional toning effects, while it also helps to improve posture, balance, coordination, agility, bone density, joint mobility alongside.

Zumba® toning can also include older adults who wish to do a slower Zumba workout minus the weights.

Don’t Bulk, just Sculpt!

According to the American Fitness Council, Zumba toning incorporates Latin-inspired dance with body-sculpting techniques. The toning-sticks, weighing 1 lbs to 2 ½ lbs improve cardio performance and tone and strengthen the body's muscles.

The word “Zumba Toning” says it all; these classes are meant to create a toned appearance especially in the arms, legs and core – not a bulky look.

Essential Precautions

As with any type of workout, Zumba® Toning is not meant for everyone.  If you have any known medical or physical problems then you must consult your physician before undertaking any new or different exercise program.  He or she knows your situation best and can advise you whether a Zumba® toning class is appropriate for you.
