The American Heart Association supports the performance of cardio exercises highly. It states that everyone should perform at least 20 minutes of vigorous cardio exercises 3 days a week or for 30 minutes 5 days a week. The Association suggests the right way of performing the exercises as well, involving a preceding 5 to 10 minute session of warm up exercises which requires moving just enough to get the heart rate going and the body temperature heated, followed by the 20 minute or the 30 minute cardio routine and finally a 5 to 10 minute cool down session.

Train for a Greater Period of Time

In order to burn some cardio calories, initially a 20 minute session will suffice. But, slowly and gradually you must increase the 20 minutes to 45 minutes and ultimately to 60 minutes if you really want to burn calories faster. Doing so gradually has the benefit of building up the time you need to gather enough stamina to prolong the amount of time you will need to increase in your workout sessions and if you are really looking to bust some flab then this must be done.

Strive for Higher Intensity

The idea behind increasing the intensity of your workout in order to burn calories faster is to challenge yourself. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and step out of the monotony by experimenting with your everyday workout routines. Going solo is not always the best approach to take for motivational purposes. It is easier to break your preset boundaries in an exercise class or with a personal trainer as the atmosphere is more energetic, motivated, enthralling and just happening. All these factors work in unison to make your workout experience more exciting and effective, helping you pace it up on whatever you’re doing, ultimately leading to burning calories faster and better.
