Loose skin can be stubborn to get rid of, but it is completely doable! There are a number of causes of saggy skin syndrome. Some of these might include drastic weight loss or post-partum skin.

Weight loss is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, you should give yourself a pat on the back for achieving your health & wellness goals. We suggest that you do not let anything, even some  loose skin, kill your buzz! Here is some good news for you if you are looking for ways to tone your body and get rid of any patches of loose skin. Pilates can be very effective for dealing with loose skin. Here’s the low-down on how this works.

Pilates 101

Pilates, especially Stamina Pilates, is a great tool for sculpting your body. Pilates is essentially a form of strength training and body toning which not only provides well-rounded physical fitness but also a great mental health experience! The basic focus of Pilates lies in strengthening the core, improving coordination, balance and flexibility.

Given how Pilates incorporates precision, control, concentration, breathing and fluid movements into a holistic routine, if done on a regular basis, it can help you get rid of loose skin. This is accomplished by improvement in posture, decrease in anxiety and stress and a decreased risk of sustaining injuries.

Types of Pilates for Loose Skin

There are a few different types of Pilates which may help you rid yourself of loose skin. Some of these include:

  • Traditional Pilates
  • Stott Pilates
  • Reformer Pilates
  • Stamina Pilates

Traditional Pilates is performed on a floor mat and requires the individual to assume various different positions by moving the body around slowly using the body weight as resistance.

Stott and Reformer Pilates require the use of proper equipment to carry out body toning and strength training Pilates movements while incorporating the principle of resistance into the regimen.

Stamina Pilates, which goes one step ahead of Traditional Pilates, adds an element of cardiovascular training. This elevates the heart rate by means of an up tempo routine, helping burn more calories and increasing the level of body toning.

It is primarily the controlled, precise and slow movements prescribed by Pilates which add to skin toning  and achieving freedom from loose skin. When performed on a regular basis, Pilates fixes loose skin by improving overall circulation.

Augmentation is Necessary!

It is always prudent to have a holistic approach to wellness. In addition to taking up Pilates, you should also engage in some other healthy activities to get rid of that loose skin faster.

Eating a healthy diet consisting of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables is great for overall health including improved skin elasticity. Staying well hydrated and drinking an adequate amount of water can also help in keeping your skin healthy and prevent the appearance of loose skin!

You can also use some lotions or creams with collagen, Vitamin E or olive oil, all of which are great remedies for tightening up some loose skin.

However, before you make any changes to your diet or lifestyle, please make sure that you talk to your physician. Tighten that loose skin, shed all self-consciousness and get on the path to better health today!
